Recommendation for readers

We highly recommend that user experience experts, technical experts and resources from the business area at the Merchants, read the product literature for Additional info. This is mainly due to the various ways of implementing this service and the considerations that should be discussed regarding that matter.

Introducing Additional Information

Additional Information is a value-added service on top of the authentication services xID and BankID, offering a simplified web experience for the end-users and a possibility for the Merchants to convert more of their users to customers.

For the end-user, Addtional information is an opt-in expansion to their use of xID and BankID, offering to store their data, and sharing it in a controlled manner with the Merchants they are interacting with, for example by filling out web forms with a single click.

For the Merchants, Additional Information is a source of information about the end-user. The Merchant can request specific parts of the supported data, which will be returned to the Merchant if the end user consents to it. Merchants can trust that the end-users privacy is assured, and that he has consented explicitly to both that the information is stored in the services and that  the information is passed on to the Merchant.

Additional Information will not be offered for Merchants running on the legacy BankID server platform.

Naming conventions

In the technical documentation the acronym TINFO is used for this value added service. In other product information the term "Additional Information" is used in English, and "Tilleggsinformasjon" in Norwegian.

For the end-users Additional Information is not described as a separate product, but as an opt-in feature on top of BankID or xID, and it is commonly referred to as "contact information".
